5 Tamil films delayed indefinitely which could be profitable if released

Sometimes, the timeline leading up to a film’s release is simple: pre-production, production, post, and release. Other times, it’s not quite as straightforward. For some films, after post-production awaits a long period of idle time, where the completed film sits on an increasingly metaphorical shelf, unseen, until the powers that be can decide just what do with it.


Tamil fans have been waiting eagerly for certain films to hit screens. However, for one reason or the other, their wait has only been prolonged. Take a look at these Tamil films that are still awaiting release long after they have been produced!

Rendavathu Padam

The film written and directed by Tamizh Padam fame C. S. Amudhan after his superhit directorial debut Tamizh Padam, stars Vimal, Ramya Nambeesan, Aravind AkashRichard along with Bigg Boss 2 fame Vijayalakshmi. The team completed shooting. However, the movie has not yet been released due to financial troubles.

Vaa deal

Vaa Deal, written and directed by Rathina Shiva, features Arun Vijay and Karthika Nair in the lead roles. The film has music by Thaman. Having been in production since 2012, the film has been delayed for several years. It was reported earlier that actor Ajith suggested the film's release post the release of Yennai Arindhal as it would help the film to cash in on the popularity which Arun Vijay could gain through the latter film. However, the film has been delayed indefinitely for unknown reasons.

Madha Gaja Raja

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Anjali played the lead roles opposite Vishal in this Sundar C directorialThe initial release date for the film was announced as 14 January 2013 by the producers, Gemini Film Circuit. The film's release was postponed several times for the next five years due to various reasons. And the film is yet to see the light of the day.

Idam Porul Yaeval

The multi-star film featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Vishnu Vishal directed by Dharmadurai fame director Seenu Ramasamy, released its audio in Dec 2014. Despite being completed, the film has remained unreleased as a result of Thirupathi Brothers financial difficulties.

Nenjam Marpathillai

The Tamil gothic horror film Starring SJ Suriya, Regina, and Nanditha in the lead was announced in 2015 by Gautam Menon. The soundtrack was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja with Selvaraghavan penning the lyrics. The release of the movie was confirmed for 30 June 2017, but it was postponed due to the introduction of GST by the Indian government.
